6 Easy Tricks to Help You Achieve a Flawless Foundation Look

When it comes to applying your foundation, there are some things to keep in mind to make your job a whole lot easier!

Check out our 6 easy tricks to help you achieve the flawless look you’re aiming for without all the struggle.

1. Keep Your Brushes Clean.
It’s super important not to under estimate the value of clean brushes! When foundation brushes get dirty with left-over product (yuck), the bristles start to clump together and can unevenly distribute your foundation, and can create a streaky/patchy finish. The same goes for beauty blenders! We recommend cleaning them thoroughly once a week to keep skin flawless and blemish free.
 2. Prepping Your Skin Properly Before Application is Key.
Before you apply your foundation, MOISTURISE, (Your whole face!) and apply your primer. It’s a great way to prevent dehydration and cracking in your foundation as the day progresses . It will save you lots of time and effort down the road.
3. Custom-Blend Your Shade.
Picking the wrong shade of foundation is unsurprisingly the most common mistake people make. We often choose shades that are based on what colour we “think” our skin is. If you can always try a sample and test it on several areas of your face in different lighting if possible. If you can’t find the perfect shade (or if you bought the wrong one), mix it with another shade to create a true match.
4. Pick The Right Finish.
The trick to finding that perfect foundation is all in your skin type. If you have oily skin, you might want to lean towards a matte liquid foundation or a powder foundation. Dry skin? Perhaps a dewy hydrating formula or a cream foundation. There’s a perfect formula for everyone out there. Don't forget, you don’t have to reach for a full-coverage foundation. Go for a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream to show off that naturally gorgeous skin!
5. Finish With Concealer.
After applying your foundation, follow up by dabbing concealer on the spots that need more coverage and then soften the edges with a makeup brush or blender sponge. You'll use a lot less product than if you put concealer on before foundation and get more smooth, even coverage.
6. Finally Set It Right.
The key to getting your foundation to last all day is to finish off your look with a setting spray or setting powder. After you finish applying your foundation, concealer, blush, highlighter, and any other face makeup, apply your chosen setting product—focus on the areas that tend to collect oil and shine, like your T-zone and sides of your nose.
