Pharmacy First for Sore Throat

Pharmacy First is a service commissioned by the Strategic Planning and Performance Group (SPPG) and is free of charge for patients.

Within the Pharmacy First for Sore Throat Service, patients aged 5 years and over are encouraged to visit their local pharmacy first rather than their GP when experiencing symptoms of sore throat. Following a consultation the pharmacist will give advice and, if appropriate, supply medication free of charge, or refer the patient to the GP if necessary.

Temporary residents, and patients in care homes are not eligible for this service.
