Prescription Home Delivery Service

We now charge for Prescription Home Deliveries.

Community pharmacies have historically provided a delivery service free of charge to patients. We have borne the significant costs associated with this service as it is not funded by Government.
However, due to the ongoing underfunding and ever increasing costs, we must now charge patients for deliveries to ensure that this vital service can continue to operate.

Ideally, patients or their representatives would collect prescription medication in person from the pharmacy, which has the added benefit of receiving face-to-face expert care from our Pharmacy Team. However, we appreciate that this is not possible for everyone. The introduction of clear, transparent delivery charges allows us to continue to offer home delivery to those patients that require it.

What do we charge:

Annual Subscription per patient: £72
Monthly Subscription per patient: £8
Pay As You Go per delivery, per patient: £5

Note: We charge a maximum of 2 fees per household. For example, a family of 3 or more persons would pay only two delivery charges.


How do I get home delivery?

Contact the Pharmacy Team in your local branch to confirm eligibility. 

Can I get home delivery set up for another person (e.g. for a parent or a neighbour)?

Yes. Contact the Pharmacy Team in the patient's local branch.

How do you collect payment for home delivery?

We are unable to accept payment upon delivery. Payment for Prescription Home Deliveries must be made in advance.

We have chosen Elavon as our Secure Payment Provider.

Scheduled card payments through are the preferred option. They are easy to setup with a single phone call to your branch. This is often the most cost-effective option.

     Annual Subscriptions: Scheduled card payment will be taken automatically on the same date each year.
     Monthly Subscriptions: Scheduled card payment will be taken automatically on the first of the month.

Alternatively, you can phone or call into your local branch, to make payment on each occasion the monthly or annual fee is due.

If you opt for Pay As You Go, then you must phone the branch to make payment within 2 day window before the delivery is due otherwise the delivery will not proceed.

Further Information:

For Pay As You Go the patient must phone the branch to process a card payment prior to each delivery. This must occur in the two-day window before their delivery is due, otherwise delivery will not occur. Payment cannot be taken at the door.

The introduction of charging will not alter the existing delivery operation in your branch. Timescales for, and frequency of, deliveries will remain at the pharmacists’ discretion in order to prevent oversubscription.

For those paying by scheduled card payments, we reserve the right to limit the number of deliveries you can receive each month to a number which is fair and reasonable (as we do currently) in order to ensure there is capacity for those in critical need to avail of this service. The cap will be at the pharmacists’ discretion. If an additional PAYG payment is required to complete a delivery, this will be agreed with you in advance.

If you do not want to receive deliveries going forward, you can avail of our free Prescription Collection & Text Alert Service, where we collect your prescription from your surgery and text you once it’s made up and ready for collection. Simply contact your local branch to sign up.
